Our village of Shirwell is one of the old "One Hundreds" being the birthplace of the "Round the World" Yachtsman Sir Francis Chichester who's family were the "Landed Gentry" of the area, his cousin owning the National Trust property "Arlington Court"
( about 4 miles up the road ).
